THE DARKNESS Cancel Miller Concert Appearance, ALICE COOPER Added

July 29, 2004

British rock sensation THE DARKNESS have cancelled their previously announced participation in the upcoming Miller Brewing Company concerts celebrating 50 years of rock and roll. THE DARKNESS will not be returning to the United States this fall and therefore will be unable to appear at the event, according to an official statement. The group will be performing shows in Europe, following which they will be concentrating on writing material for their second album.

"We will miss THE DARKNESS in New York City, but our line-up remains impressive and just got stronger with ALICE COOPER, BEN FOLDS and MELISSA AUF DER MAUR being recently added to the bill," said Peter Laatz, manager of entertainment marketing at Miller.

Produced by Clear Channel Entertainment, the eagerly anticipated two-day event will take place at the Roseland Ballroom in New York City on September 17 and 18, and will include some of the biggest and most important artists in rock history, from current giants like LENNY KRAVITZ, VELVET REVOLVER, and THE STROKES to pioneers like JAMES BROWN, BO DIDDLEY and THE DOORS OF THE 21ST CENTURY.
